As a heavyweight segment of B2B e-commerce, the industrial product procurement market not only spawned procurement platforms such as steel mesh and industrial products, but also attracted e-commerce giants such as Ali and JD. In particular, thanks to the trend of industrial e-commerce development, the two giants are stepping up their efforts to open up online and offline channels to provide more attractive industrial product procurement services.

On November 1, Jingdong Industrial Products signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Schneider Electric. The two parties intend to conduct comprehensive cooperation in product development, marketing promotion, customer service, intelligent procurement, and efficient digital supply chain. The two parties will also integrate each other's service resources to provide one-stop intelligent procurement services for enterprise users in online and offline scenarios.

In the past two years, focusing on industrial B2B business, especially industrial product procurement business, Jingdong has frequently launched a layout. In June last year, Jingdong signed a strategic contract with a number of top industrial brand brands to provide industrial enterprises with full-process services such as online trade and procurement, and officially entered the field of industrial products. Then in September, Jingdong officially launched the industrial product channel.

In addition, at the beginning of October this year, Jingdong also launched the "Industrial Products" first-class channel; on the 18th of the same month, the "Jingdong Industrial Products Super Category Day" promotion event was launched. From the Jingdong series of actions, the penetration of industrial procurement in its e-commerce platform is gradually deepening, and Jingdong seems to be interested in recommending it to the same position as the consumer B2C business.

It is worth mentioning that in May of this year, Jingdong also led the B1 round of financing for the industrial goods supply chain e-commerce platform "work products" to help them build MRO supply chain platform. Yan Zhang, the founder of the work product, said that he hopes to reach a cooperation with Jingdong Logistics in the future. It can be seen that Jingdong does not regard the industrial products procurement business as a supplement to B2C e-commerce, but intends to seek to build a sound industrial supply chain business ecology by investing in other industrial B2B platforms.

Some analysts believe that because ordinary netizens are not the target user groups in the industrial sector, the current industry is still mainly based on offline sales in the trade links. However, due to the current offline procurement, there are still problems such as layer-level price increase, inefficiency, and poor information synchronization. It affects the productivity and profitability of industrial enterprises.

To this end, we will promote the transformation and upgrading of the industrial industry to the online trend. The "Three-Year Action Plan for Industrial E-Commerce Development" issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology last September clearly stated that by 2020, the purchase amount of e-commerce by industrial enterprises should reach 9 trillion yuan. This move aims to improve the industrial e-commerce support service system and improve The level of online and offline integration of industrial industries, to crack the pain points of offline procurement that relies on the distribution model for a long time.

In response to the trend of e-commerce in the industrial sector, Ali, which started with B2B business, naturally accelerated its layout. In August last year, Alibaba officially launched the 1688 industrial brand station. At the 2018 Yunqi Conference and Chongqing Summit on August 24 this year, Ali also announced that it will establish a joint venture with Chongqing Nan'an District and CCID Research Institute. Industrial Internet platform.

Ma Yun, chairman of Alibaba's board of directors, said at the Chongqing Zhibo meeting the previous day that 90% of the manufacturing industry will be on the Internet, and smart new technologies such as smart manufacturing, IoT and blockchain are playing an increasingly important role in new manufacturing. character of. Obviously, Ali's industrial e-commerce layout is not limited to procurement, but will further penetrate the industrial chain to build an industrial Internet industry ecology.

Ma Huateng, chairman and CEO of Tencent's board of directors, also mentioned in an interview with China Economic Weekly that the future consumer Internet will penetrate the industrial Internet, which is also the key to the transformation and upgrading of the real economy and high-quality development. It is foreseeable that as the Internet giants drop more pieces on the chessboard of the industrial industry Internet, the competition in the industrial B2B field is bound to become more intense.
